The Oly-Comm Operations Protocol documents are a set of rules, guidelines, and instructions for day-to-day operations of this News-gathering, Community-service organization. The "OP" Documents serve as operational bylaws.  Additional documents will be posted as they are required and developed.

No one desires a set of "arbitrary" rules! However, when there is a shared resource, like a wide-coverage radio repeater, rules become necessary. We tend to assume that everyone "knows" the generally accepted rules. However, that would be careless of us and unfair to those who want or need to have a clearer definition of Oly-Comm expectations and requirements.  It could also create discord when repeater users "offend" others by unknowingly breaking some unwritten "rule".  Activities that may be an irritation or even a flagrant violation to one person might not be an issue at all to another. It is best to be clear about the rules we really think are important.

It is not the intent of Oly-Comm to define every action allowed or disallowed, but rather to provide guidelines for proper etiquette and give some “breathing room” to authorized users of Oly-Comm repeaters.  Oly-Comm1 & Oly-Comm2 repeaters co-exist, on the same channel pair, separated only by different CTCSS tones, allowing users to monitor both machines simultaneously.  However, users must identify which repeater they are using ie "monitoring on Oly-Comm1 or Oly-Comm2" for operational best practice.

Oly-Comm3 (East Tiger) is a cooperative arrangement between the SeaTac GMRS Repeater Association and the Oly-Comm Network and operates on a different frequency and tone with coverage extending over the greater Seattle/Tacoma region.  Because of this cooperative, the Operational Protocols of East Tiger are not necessarily the same as Oly-Comm1 & 2, but those may still prove useful nonetheless.

Just as "good fences make good neighbors" every radio operator will be benefited as all adhere to basic, respectful, radio-rules-of-the-road otherwise known as the "Terms and Conditions" as such information is commonly referred to in the Internet age.
